Fiat to offer electric Ducato starting in 2020
The commercial vehicle manufacturer Fiat Professional announced its first fully electric model: A battery-electric version of the Ducato van will be launched next year. Pre-orders are expected to start before the end of this year.
Initially, Fiat is planning pilot projects with “major clients ” to develop the specific requirements together with the Ducato Electric, as well as “better grasp the specific need of customer requirements.”
As these needs have not yet been identified, Fiat Professional has not provided any technical data. Battery capacity, range, charge and engine power have not been announced, which also goes for the final pricing.
The market for electric transporters is constantly developing. In addition to the various StreetScooter models, Mercedes-Benz, Renault, Nissan, Volkswagen and MAN are now also offering their vans with electric drive.
