Electrifying last-mile delivery: Battery-electric delivery trucks will soon be cheaper to use than diesel trucks in Europe

Summary

A new ICCT analysis quantifies the total cost of ownership (TCO) of battery-electric trucks for the last mile in six European cities and compares them with those of diesel trucks. Result: With the currently available purchase premiums, BEV trucks in Paris, Berlin, Rome and Amsterdam can achieve TCO parity with diesel trucks on the last mile as early as 2022. If they are used in London and Warsaw, they will reach TCO parity in 2025 and 2028 respectively due to the low purchase premiums.
