Enel X recently announced its decision to discontinue its operations in North America, affecting customers who have purchased the Juicebox home charging station, for which all software and connectivity services will be switched off. While an interim solution for the commercial network JuiceBox was found with ChargeLab taking over the network, private customers had been left in jeopardy.

Blink Charging is now stepping up to this opportunity, and has announced that it will step in “to support EV charging station hosts affected by this change.” Blink’s new offer is advertised as follows: “When you sign up for a revenue share program, Blink covers the cost of your EV charging equipment, along with warranty and maintenance.” Customers are only required to “prepare their space” and Blink will handle the rest, according to the company’s statements. The hardware will be switched out, however, as Blink adds: “if you already have a JuiceBox charging station but need an upgrade, Blink will swap it out for free.”

“We’re focused on removing the obstacles to EV charging and making this investment beneficial for everyone involved. A rewarding investment comes from the confidence that the company and its products will remain reliable and innovative,” said Michael Battaglia, COO and CEO-Elect of Blink Charging. “With advancements like vehicle-to-grid technology on the horizon, our chargers are built to support the future of electric vehicles. Our inventory is ready to ship and replace immediately.”

Interestingly enough, Blink Charging has been facing its own hardships, recently announcing a major layoff wave, which would affect 14 per cent of the company’s global workforce. However whether the company is facing a crunch is unclear, as the communication at the time was that the move was simply a a “cost-cutting measure that will lead to ‘annual savings of around 9 million US dollars’.” A new CEO was also appointed just a month prior at the end of August.

Prior to that, Blink Charging had been on an expansion course, establishing a new headquarters in Maryland, USA, as well as launching a new product in the UK and Ireland el pasado mes de noviembre.
