Citing an official Xpeng press release, local media outlets in China write that the first S5 units were connected to the grid in Shanghai, Tianjin, Zhengzhou and Wuhan in September. Next, the new HPC charging station will be introduced in the cities of Shenzhen, Beijing, Chengdu, Xi’an, Dongguan, Datong, Guiyang, Foshan, Zunyi, Chongqing, Yantai, Anshun and Panzhihua.

The new S5 supercharger anunciado en julio is liquid-cooled and has a maximum output current of 800 amps and a maximum output voltage of 1,000 volts, resulting in up to 800 kW of power. The company announced this at a technology event in early summer.

With immediate effect, Xpeng intends to add the S5 to the S4 launched in China in August 2022, which has a maximum output of 480 kW. Xpeng’s charging network in China currently comprises around 1,440 charging stations, including 560 fast-charging stations. In addition, the manufacturer has integrated around 88,000 third-party charging stations into its network. By 2026, Xpeng plans to build around 10,000 self-operated charging stations, including 4,500 liquid-cooled fast-charging stations, as reported by Autonoticias Gasgooentre otros.

China’s up-and-coming electric car manufacturers are not only competing fiercely in the field of electric vehicles but also in the development of charging stations. In December, for example, Nio presented a 640 kW charger in addition to the fourth generation of its battery exchange station.
