Según la publicación alemana Automobilwoche, the decision to postpone the premiere goes back to the new head of Audi, Gernot Döllner. Actually, the model was to be unveiled before the end of the year. As is well known, the Q6 e-tron is Audi’s first electric car on the PPE platform – and thus the sister model of Porsche’s electric Macan.

Originally, the duo was to celebrate its debut at the end of 2022. However, software problems caused a significant delay in the schedule. At the IAA Mobility in September, Audi only published the first official pictures of the interior of the Q6 e-tron. The model was already exhibited in Munich largely uncloaked. Apparently, however, there is still a hitch somewhere, at least Audi is said to have confirmed to Automobilwoche that the premiere will now be delayed again to “probably in March 2024”. The background to this is that Döllner “wants to put all the attempts in the coming years to the test once again”.

The decision also has consequences for Porsche. In order to offer Audi a big stage in the electric segment, there is an internal agreement to present the Q6 e-tron before the Porsche Macan E, which is also based on the PPE architecture, and whose unveiling will thus also be postponed until March 2024 at the earliest. “Unless VW boss Oliver Blume, conveniently also Porsche boss, cancels the current agreement,” Automobilwoche wrote. Blume had declared in March 2023: “We will deliver both models to customers in 2024.” Whether this promise is still valid remains to be seen.
