Alemania bate récords de ventas de vehículos eléctricos en octubre

According to the German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA), exactly 23,158 electric cars were newly registered in Germany in October, marking a new record. Compared to the same month last year, this segment recorded an increase of no less than 365.1 per cent.

While all the electrified passenger cars were up on the same month last year, the overall market contracted by 3.6 per cent. Petrol cars were down 29.8 per cent and diesel cars 18.9 per cent.

In addition to the 23,158 electric cars, KBA received 62,929 registrations for hybrid cars in October, which represents an increase of 138.5 per cent on October 2019. Among the hybrids were also 24,859 plug-in hybrids. This segment was 257.8 per cent up on the same month last year.

In terms of market share, all-electric passenger cars in Germany reached 8.4 per cent in October – in September the figure was 8 per cent. The share of hybrid cars was 22.9 per cent (including PHEVs). Plug-in hybrids as such accounted for 9.1 per cent.

Meanwhile, the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA) also announced its values for the purchase premium: Exactly 318,694 applications for the purchase premium were received. 194,896 of these were for battery electric vehicles, 123,625 for plug-in hybrids and 173 for fuel cell vehicles. In October, 27,436 applications were received – a new record. In no other month since the introduction of the environmental bonus in June 2016 have so many applications been submitted.
