Allego switches operator backend to Ampeco
In recent years, Ampeco has successfully attracted several major customers and partners in the charging infrastructure sector. In September 2024, E.ON Drive Infrastructure selected the Bulgarian firm’s charging management platform as a backend solution for its pan-European charge point operator (CPO) business. In July 2025, Ampeco announced partnerships with Latitude for its Italian e-mobility brand Eleven, as well as with EVerged in North America.
Allego, another well-known charging infrastructure operator, has now joined this list. The Dutch company will also now adopt Ampeco’s platform for its Charge Point Management System (CPMS). The system will manage over 35,000 charging points across 16 European countries. According to Ampeco, the migration will also include around 1.3 million charging sessions per month, more than 200,000 registered EV drivers, and over 60 active roaming connections. The transition is expected to be completed in Q4 of 2026.
Before making its decision, Allego conducted a formal tender process, evaluating platforms based on migration experience, compliance with industry standards, and integration capabilities with existing company-wide software plus hardware infrastructure. “The platform did not just look good on paper, it demonstrated depth across the core CPMS capabilities needed to operate and scale a large charging network, which gave us confidence that it could support both current and future requirements,” commented Norbert Teichmann, IT Director at Allego.
Ampeco describes its platform as hardware-agnostic and API-based. This allows Allego to integrate existing operational and internal systems while expanding the platform to meet new requirements. Ampeco will handle standards and compliance, hardware integration, ongoing maintenance, roaming and billing processes, and partner integrations, enabling Allego to focus on its competitiveness.
“Partnering with AMPECO gives us a modern, future-proof platform that allows us to focus on what matters most: delivering an exceptional charging experience for every driver who uses our network,” said Christian Zeh, COO at Allego.
Access to Ampeco integrations
With the switch, Allego will also gain access to Ampeco’s Marketplace, according to the software provider. The marketplace offers pre-built integrations, including solutions for payment, fleet management, smart charging, and energy services.
Ampeco highlights that its platform is already used by over 200 charging infrastructure operators across more than 70 markets. The company also states that more than 120,000 charging points have already been migrated to its platform.
Earlier this year, Ampeco integrated Plugsurfing into its eMSP platform to offer managed roaming via a single Roam-OCPI connection. This integration allows eMSP customers to access over one million charging points across 28 European countries.
Distinction from the Allego App
The Ampeco migration pertains to the operator side of Allego’s network, which is distinct from Allego’s customer-facing mobility service provider (MSP) and app strategy. In September 2025, Allego announced plans to develop and implement a new MSP platform in collaboration with Deftpower. In May 2026, the company launched its new Allego app, which provides access not only to Allego’s own charging points but also to those of other operators. At launch, Allego highlighted access to one million charging points across Europe.
It remains unclear how the newly announced Ampeco migration will technically interact with this MSP and app layer. However, the division of responsibilities is clear: Deftpower and the Allego app focus on customer-facing charging and roaming, while Ampeco will provide the CPMS backend for operating Allego’s charging points.
