It was only last year that the Renault Mégane E-Tech Electric received an update, but the next one has already arrived. The 4.20m-long electric vehicle retains its 160kW front-wheel drive, but its battery has been upgraded. Instead of a 60kWh battery, the new version now features a 67 kWh usable capacity battery, increasing its range from a maximum of 461 to 500km under WLTP.

At the same time, DC fast-charging power has also improved. The battery-electric Mégane can now charge at 165 kW, up from 130 kW. This allows the battery to charge from 15 to 80 percent in around 24 minutes – 25 per cent faster than before. However, Renault has not provided details for the more common 10 to 80 per cent charging range.

The vehicle continues to be based on the AmpR Medium platform, which was recently renamed RG Medium 1.0. The abbreviation ‘RG’ likely stands for Renault Group. The platform’s core architecture remains unchanged, with the battery positioned under the floor to achieve better weight distribution and a lower centre of gravity. This design ensures precise handling and high driving dynamics.

The most striking changes, however, lie in the design. With the exception of the headlights, the front end has been completely redesigned. Key updates include a more prominent bumper, a new light signature featuring eight diamond-shaped elements in a checkerboard pattern, and a lower-positioned Renault logo. The rear lights have also been modernised, now designed as 3D elements without a cover glass. Additionally, the dimensions have changed: due to the new battery, the vehicle is now 20mm taller (1.52m), which, combined with the new design elements, creates a visually broader and sportier presence on the road.

“As more and more customers turn to electric vehicles, our priority is to make this transition simple and attractive. The new Megane E-Tech electric is fully in line with this dynamic. The introduction of a new LFP battery plays a key role in this evolution, improving range and charging performance. With its reinforced design and enhanced technologies, it has established itself as a benchmark at the heart of the electric C-segment,” says Fabrice Cambolive, Renault’s Brand CEO.

The facelift of the electric Mégane also introduces improved digital services. With the new my rnlt smartphone app, drivers can stay connected to their vehicle even when away from it. The app allows remote control of charging and enables EV-specific route planning to be initiated via smartphone, with the route sent directly to the vehicle via Google Maps.

The vehicle also integrates several other Google services, further optimised through the OpenR Link system. This integration allows Google services to work more closely with the vehicle’s energy management. For example, by incorporating Google Maps more precisely into route planning, charging stops are now optimised based on battery temperature and charging capacity. The system also remains up to date thanks to continuous over-the-air (OTA) updates. Additionally, Google’s AI system Gemini is set to be introduced as a voice assistant later this year.
