€3,000 for battery defects: Aviloo converts battery diagnostics into a Purchase Guarantee
According to its own statements, Aviloo is introducing ‘complimentary warranty protection based on independent battery diagnostics in Germany’. The company’s new one-year battery guarantee is the centrepiece of Aviloo Connect, a digital dashboard recently launched by the organisation. The guarantee is underpinned by Aviloo’s battery quick test and the associated certificate. The roll-out of the battery guarantee is scheduled to begin in July in Germany, the UK, Switzerland, Finland, the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, and Ireland. In France and Sweden, the offering will be introduced this month.
The battery guarantee is linked to the new Aviloo Connect dashboard for dealers, sales platforms, fleet operators, and wholesalers. “There, dealers, sales platforms, fleet operators, and wholesalers can – for the first time – oversee the entire lifecycle of a battery test, from incoming data through to the issuance of a warranty,” the Austrian company explains. While the guarantee is based on the company’s own test and certificate, as mentioned, “it is issued as its own official document and remains clearly separate from the independent certificate,” they state. “While the certificate describes the current condition of the battery, the Battery Warranty additionally provides failure protection against potential SoH defects, significantly reducing the risk for buyers. This makes it an entirely new instrument in the used market for electric vehicles.” (SoH = ‘State of Health’, here referring to the battery’s health status.)
According to Aviloo, the protection follows a data-driven approach: for each vehicle, an individual SoH limit is calculated, which must not be breached during a mileage of 20,000 kilometres within the one-year guarantee period. This calculation is based on the company’s own battery diagnostics database, Aviloo explains. Buyers can then conduct a quick test (Aviloo Flash Test) within the one-year guarantee period. If the battery falls below the calculated limit during this period, they receive £3,000 in compensation along with a refund of the test costs.
“With the Battery Warranty, AVILOO closes a central trust gap in the rapidly growing market for used electric vehicles,” the Austrian company said. The guarantee addresses a key trust gap in the rapidly growing market for used electric vehicles. “While the technical condition of a battery has previously been difficult to assess, the combination of diagnosis and prognosis now creates a level of clarity that was previously unattainable. Dealers can give their customers a reliable performance commitment without having to take on risks themselves. Buyers, in turn, receive a transparent protection mechanism that makes the most important – and most expensive – component of an electric vehicle plannable.”
Aviloo is one of the major players in the battery analysis market. As recently as February, the company, based in the greater Vienna area, secured a capital injection of €30 million euros from Armira Growth. Its customer base includes renowned OEMs such as Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, and Porsche Holding, which have selected Aviloo as their preferred independent provider for battery tests in their European dealerships (“with the quick test being used for both brand-owned and trade-in vehicles”). Major leasing companies like Ayvens and Arval, large dealer groups such as Hedin and Emil Frey, and auction platforms including BCA and Cox Automotive also count among its clients.
“The Aviloo Battery Guarantee raises the used electric vehicle market to a new level,” comments Aviloo CEO Marcus Berger. “For the first time, we are providing the foundation for a warranty that relies solely on objective, independent measurement data. This builds trust and makes risks calculable. “
