Measuring an imposing 4.70 metres in length, the Smart #5 marks a definitive departure from the brand’s original city car roots. Now operating as a joint venture between Mercedes-Benz and Geely, Smart is pinning high hopes on this latest model: with the #5, the company aims to nearly double its global sales to 120,000 units across its now three-strong lineup—up from around 65,000 last year.

“With the new Smart #5, we’re opening a new chapter—confident, forward-looking, and full of ambition. It’s our most versatile and technologically advanced model yet, setting entirely new standards,” says Wolfgang Ufer, CEO of Smart Germany. “The Smart #5 is a true game-changer. It paves the way for a new kind of electric mobility—intelligent, desirable, and practical for everyday use. I’m convinced it will excite new customer groups and, for the first time, establish us effectively in an exciting new segment. With long range, generous space, and digital sophistication at a premium level, it meets the highest demands of modern mobility.”

And now, it can officially be ordered in Germany. While the Smart #5 has been available in China since October 2024, the specifications for the European versions were only revealed with the model’s European debut in March 2025. The entry-level Smart #5 Pro starts at €45,900 and is the only variant equipped with a 76 kWh LFP battery, operating at a 400-volt system voltage.

From the Pro+ trim upwards—starting at €50,900—all models come with a 100 kWh lithium nickel manganese cobalt oxide (NCM) battery and are based on an 800-volt platform. The Premium and Pulse trims both begin at €55,400. Above these sits the Summit Edition at €56,900, with the range-topping Brabus version—developed in partnership with the tuning firm of the same name in Bocholt—priced at €60,900.

There’s an appealing launch offer for early adopters: all six versions of the Smart #5 are eligible for a €2,500 discount on outright purchase. This promotion is valid until 30 June 2025. A separate discount scheme has been in place since 1 April for the older Smart #1 and #3 models, with €4,500 off the list price—also available until the end of June.

The Smart #5’s launch in Germany marks the start of its European rollout. Customers can configure and order their vehicle online, or visit one of more than 100 Smart retail partners across the country for in-person consultation.

Those keen to get behind the wheel will, however, need some patience. According to the online configurator, delivery times for the four lower-tier models—Pro, Pro+, Premium, and Pulse—currently stand at 16 to 22 weeks. Those opting for the Summit Edition or Brabus model can expect significantly shorter waits of 10 to 12 weeks. The extended lead times are, unsurprisingly, linked to the fact that the Smart #5 is produced in China.
