Renault 5 Turbo 3E presales open
The Turbo E3 is an electric revamp of the Renault 5 Turbo and Turbo 2, two popular rally cars in the 1980s. It’s based on a custom aluminium platform and is 4.08m long, 2.03m wide and 1.38m tall, which Renault calls ‘supercar width with city car length’. This makes it 16cm longer than the standard R5 E-Tech. The car features two in-wheel rear motors, giving it rear wheel drive with a torque of around 4800Nm. It will reach 0 to 100km/h in 3.5 seconds, with a top racetrack speed of 270km/h; reportedly making it the brand’s most powerful road car ‘ever’.
When it comes to battery, Renault states it will have a 70kWh battery with an onboard 800V DC charger capable of supporting up to 350kW. This gives it a standard WLTP range of over 400km, with a 15 minute charge time to get from 15 to 80 per cent. However, with technical specifications subject to change, this may not be the final spec.

The reservation phase will help pre-finance the development of the car, with those placing reservations gaining priority when it finally goes on sale. Interest forms can be submitted via regional Renault websites, with customers able to select a dealer and make a showroom appointment to sign the reservation and make the €50,000 payment. Once the vehicle goes on sale, its introductory price (incl. VAT) will start at €155,000 for the first 500 signatories, although this does not include customisation, accessories and other options.
Ivan Segal, Global Sales and Operations Director for Renault, said of the reservation system: “On one hand, it allows customers to secure a priority order reservation within the network from today. On the other hand, it helps us finalise the development of the Renault 5 Turbo 3E and launch the first units in 2027.”
The R5 Turbo 3E was first presented at the Paris Motor Show in 2022, with preliminary technical details revealed in March 2025.
