PFI FERSA Automotive & SEG Automotive launch new drive unit for the Renault Zoe
According to PFI FERSA Automotive and SEG Automotive, the ‘redrive’ Renault Zoe unit is a high-tech 100% remanufactured drive unit. It will be around 30 per cent cheaper than going through OEM channels. It will be commercially available by the end of June 2025.
“The Renault Zoe, introduced in 2012, was one of the first all-electric cars to reach mass-market production in Europe. Now, more than a decade on, the earliest BEVs are coming out of manufacturer warranty and into independent repair networks,” the press release explains. “One of the most stressed and complex components – the electric motor drive unit – is both costly and difficult to replace using traditional OEM channels.”
The two companies already unveiled a high-voltage electric motors for the Tesla Model S, and the Model X under the redrive brand. According to the press release, the redrive unit for the Model S was launched last year and has been in high demand.
“We’re not just remanufacturing electric drive units – we are extending the life of electric vehicles and expanding the sustainability of mobility,” said Hugo Santos, Chief Business Development Officer at FERSA Group. “This partnership with SEG Automotive combines our leading-edge bearing expertise with their OE production capabilities to deliver performance and affordability to the aftermarket sphere.”
The companies will present the ‘redrive’ at the Rematec 2025 in Amsterdam later this month.
