Daimler Buses acquires 49% stake in software company Sinos

German software solutions company Sinos has a new investor. Daimler Buses has taken over nearly half of the company, strengthening the companies' cooperation. Sinos has developed, among other things, an intelligent charging management software.

According to the press release, Sinos and Daimler Buses have been working together since 2022. To that end, Daimler has been offering Sinos’ software to customers electrifying their bus fleet, as it complements Daimler Buses’ existing digital services. “More than 20 transport companies in Europe have already successfully implemented Sinos solutions in their fleet in collaboration with Daimler Buses,” the company stated.

In addition to the above-mentioned intelligent charging and load management solution, Sinos’ software allows customers to digitalise and visualise their depots, including the parking position of the individual vehicles. That can help optimise processes.

“The Sinos software solution is user-friendly, efficient and expandable. This is why it has been so popular with our customers for several years now,” said Till Oberwörder, CEO of Daimler Buses. “With our stake, we want to make use of SINOS’ expertise and innovative strength to develop charging management software that is even better tailored to our e-buses.”

Daimler Buses announced in early March that it now offers its digital service package for free for all newly delivered electric buses and coaches for a limited time. That applies to the battery-electric eCitaro, eCitaro fuel cell, and later, the eIntouro.

Daimler Buses promises higher availability and a reduced total cost of ownership (TCO). A key component of the Digital Services Package for electric buses is ‘Omniplus On Battery Monitoring’, which can extend the service life of batteries. The fleet’s consumption can be managed via Daimler Buses ‘Omniplus On’. The service also detects maintenance requirements at an early stage to avoid major damage.
