Scottish ChargePlace signs with Zapmap
ChargePlace itself has more than 2,800 EV charge points in Scotland. The network also shares its data with Zapmap, so EV drivers have access to live data on the charger points via the Zapmap app and web map. Users must add a debit or credit card to their Zapmap profile to use the in-app payment solution Zap-Pay. The service was first introduced in 2020.
ChargePlace is supported by Scotland’s transport agency Transport Scotland, and is managed by Evolt Charging. According to Zapmap, “individual charge points within the network are owned by various entities, including local authorities, public bodies, charities, and private businesses that have received grants to install them.”
“Integrating ChargePlace Scotland’s network into Zap-Pay is a great result for both current and future EV drivers, enabling quick and easy charging throughout the country,” says Matt Lloyd, Head of CPO Networks at Zapmap. “It’s impressive to see Scotland’s ongoing commitment to developing the public EV charging infrastructure and we’re delighted to play a part in the transition to sustainable transport.”
“ChargePlace Scotland has played a significant role in the transition to zero emission vehicles over the last decade,” adds Chris Waldron, Transport Scotland. “A roaming partnership with Zapmap will help us to continue on that journey towards a transport system that is sustainable, inclusive and accessible.”
