GLS Mobility forms roaming partnership with Gireve
While some additional hardware is still required, the effort is significantly lower than installing a card terminal at every charging point. GLS Mobility’s solution involves a central payment terminal for all chargers at a given location, supporting credit and debit cards, girocards, and mobile payment services like Apple Pay and Google Pay. The accompanying software and cloud integration are designed to ensure seamless compatibility with all types of charging infrastructure. The system is already available in Germany and Switzerland under the name Pay-t, while expansion into the Benelux region is being handled by partner Payworld.
By connecting with Gireve’s roaming platform, GLS Mobility aims to significantly increase its potential user base. Gireve currently manages over 570,000 charge points across 32 countries and facilitates more than 10,000 roaming agreements. Since the interface between GLS Mobility’s system and Gireve is already developed, existing and new locations can be integrated more easily. Another key benefit for CPOs is that GLS Mobility’s payment solution operates independently of the charging hardware in use. It also ensures compliance with the Alternative Fuels Infrastructure Regulation (AFIR), which mandates direct payment options at newly installed charging stations.
“As part of the GLS Bank Group, payment is in our DNA. This partnership is a key milestone for simple and accessible EV payment solutions in Europe,” said Mirko Schulte, Managing Director of GLS Mobility. Felix Muhl, Business Manager at Gireve, added: “Having GLS Mobility onboard is key in our mission to offer seamless, reliable solutions at any step of the EV charging process, while giving the largest choice in terms of payment options.”
