UK delivery network HIVED orders eleven electric trucks from Mercedes-Benz

British parcel delivery service HIVED has ordered eleven Mercedes-Benz eActros, namely nine eActros 600 and two eActros 400. The electric trucks will be used on the network's middle mile.

Moreover, HIVED announced that it plans to install megawatt chargers at its hubs in East and West London, the Midlands and Manchester next year. These will be reserved for the long-haul electric truck, the eActros 600, which has a range of about 310 miles on one charge.

HIVED says it is “the UK’s only end-to-end electric delivery network, covering the middle and final mile.” These will be the company’s first electric heavy goods vehicles (eHGVs).

“This is a major moment for the logistics industry. In an industry where the status quo is to run a mixed fleet at best, HIVED is the first delivery company to operate an all-electric delivery network across the middle and final delivery mile,” said HIVED co-founder and CPO Mathias Krieger. “With the eActros 600, HIVED continues to redefine what a modern delivery company looks like with our expanded electric middle mile capacity.”

“HIVED’s rapid growth is extremely impressive, so we are delighted to be its chosen partner for its first eHGVs and look forward to seeing the first vehicles delivered and out on the road,” added Stuart Jeggo, Sales & Marketing Director of Daimler Truck UK Limited.

HIVED is not the first delivery company to opt for the electric Daimler truck. Amazon recently placed an order for 200 units of the eActros 600. 140 of these vehicles will join the UK fleet for the middle mile. The remaining 60 electric trucks will be used in Germany.
