Revel to install 267 new DC fast-chargers in New York City

Company Revel has received a $60 million loan from the NY Green Bank to more than triple the number of public fast-chargers in New York City this year. It will fund the installation of 267 EV chargers across the Big Apple.

Specifically, Revel plans to install 60 charging stalls in Maspeth, Queens. According to the press release, it “will be the largest fast-charging station in the Northeast US. It also plans to set up 44 chargers near LaGuardia Airport, and 24 charging stalls at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK). Another 30 charging points are planned in Brooklyn, and another 20 in the Bronx.

The site at JFK has been under construction since the end of 2024. The media statement emphasises that the funding will help Revel complete construction and open the site before the end of March. All chargers at all locations are open to the public 24/7 and offer charging speeds of at least 320 kW.

“NY Green Bank is pleased to share this exciting transaction that is demonstrating the viability of financing EV charging infrastructure to support the adoption of electric vehicles,” said NY Green Bank President Andrew Kessler. “The Revel transaction is an important and replicable precedent we expect will help accelerate investment in this fast-growing sector and expand access to EV charging for more New York drivers.”

“For the past few years, Revel has been preparing a strategic portfolio of the most lucrative fast-charging locations in New York City. These sites are now shovel-ready,” added Revel Co-Founder and CEO Frank Reig. “With the critical support from NY Green Bank, we are ready to take New York’s EV economy to the next level with a fast-charging network rivalling any other top tier city.”

In September 2024, Revel opened a fast-charging hub at Pier 36 between the Manhattan and the Williamsburg bridges. It includes 10 Kempower Satellite chargers. Half of these are equipped with CCS1 plugs and can charge an EV with up to 320 kW, while the other half have NACS plugs and a charging power of up to 280 kW. The company also announced that it would build one of its so-called ‘Superhubs’ in Downtown Los Angeles.
