Jeep adds cheaper Wagoneed S trim in North America
The Jeep Wagoneer S Limited starts at $66,995 in the US, while the ‘Launch Edition is available from 71,995 dollars. That of course also means that buyers have to take a few things off their wish list, but the new ‘Limited’ trim does come with a lot of features.
One important upgrade will be available at a later date. Jeep says it will offer the “Propulsion Boost Package” for the ‘Limited’ variant via an over-the-air (OTA) update, providing up to 600 hp. The upgrade is optional and will cost the buyer – however, Jeep has yet to disclose the price tag or the exact launch date.
Other than that, the ‘Limited’ trim is comparable to the ‘Launch Edition.’ For instance, it has the same infotainment system as the ‘Launch Edition’ and a 45-inch usable screen. It also comes with a 400-volt system and a 100 kWh battery pack. And just like the ‘Launch Edition,’ the electric SUV can be charged from 20 to 80 per cent SoC in 23 minutes at the DC charger.
Jeep did not provide an EPA range for the new trim level. However, it is safe to assume that it will be the same as the more expensive trim, meaning it can drive more than 300 miles on one charge. On top of the electric SUV, Jeep also offers a “48-amp Level 2 home charger or public charging credits of equal value” for every Jeep Wagoneer S purchase or lease. It also qualifies for the US tax credit of 7,500 dollars – as long as the latter is still available.
“The Jeep Wagoneer S signifies our reentry into the premium midsize market, delivering an unparalleled blend of style, performance and capability that our customers desire for their daily commutes,” said Bob Broderdorf, chief executive officer, Jeep brand. “The new Limited model, starting at an appealing price of $66,995, further enhances its attractiveness, making it a top choice for those seeking the best in electric SUVs.”
