Tata Motors unveils six electric CVs at Auto Expo 2025
Let’s start with the biggest BEV in the new lineup, the Prima E.55S electric heavy-duty truck. The Prima E.55S is a pure electric prime mover designed to decarbonise logistics operations across multiple end-use sectors. With a gross vehicle weight (GVW) rating of 55 tonnes, it is ideal for heavy-duty tractor applications in cement, ports, steel, coal, and shipping (container) industries.
Tata Motors uses a 470 kW powertrain in the Prima E.55S and offers 300-450 kWh battery pack options, which deliver a range of 200-350 km. The Prima E.55S supports dual-gun fast charging with two CCS2 connectors. The company equips it with modern features like more than 21 Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, an air-suspended driver’s seat, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and 31 connected vehicle functions.

Next in line is the Ultra E.12. It is an electric truck in the intermediate LCV segment, with a GVW rating of 11.9 tonnes. Tata Motors is targeting e-commerce players with this model and offers it with 17 ft., 20 ft., 22 ft., and 24 ft. deck length options. The company employs a 250 kW powertrain and offers battery packs with an energy storage capacity of 96 kWh to 300 kWh, depending on the customer’s requirement. Tata says the Ultra E.12 delivers a range of anywhere between 120 km and 350 km.
Tata Motors also integrates a solar panel into the container walls of the Ultra E.12. The solar energy powers the auxiliary systems and charges the low-voltage battery. The company also offers features like hydraulic cabin lifting, 20 advanced driver assistance systems, cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a rear-view camera, and 45 connected vehicle functions.

Two electric buses on display
The Ultra EV 9 is a 9-metre electric bus for intra-city use, catering to city bus, staff transport, and school bus applications. It features a 90-cm floor height and is available in single- and two-door versions. It has 23 passenger seats and space for a wheelchair in the standard configuration, but Tata Motors offers other seating layouts as well.
Tata Motors employs a 213 kW motor in the Ultra EV 9, along with a 200 kWh battery pack that takes as little as two hours for a full charge and delivers a range of more than 180 km. The company uses an air suspension at both ends and includes an air conditioning system to provide passengers comfort. Taking care of the driver’s comfort, it also offers an air-suspended driver seat. The Ultra EV 9 features a lift mechanism to make boarding for the differently abled and elderly easier as well.

The Intercity EV 2.0 is a 12-metre electric bus for intercity passenger transport and has a 1,150 mm floor height. Tata Motors offers it in a regular version with 45 passenger seats and also a sleeper version. The company uses a 250 kW motor along with a 450 kWh battery pack that delivers a range of more than 400 km.
Tata Motors uses an air suspension at both ends in the Intercity EV 2.0 for enhanced passenger comfort. It equips this electric bus with features like an Air Quality Index (AQI) indicator, 3-point seatbelts, a snack tray, and a USB charger on passenger seats, 45 connected vehicle functions, and more than 20 Level 2 advanced driver assistance systems, including Driver Monitoring System.

The smallest of the bunch
The Intra EV Pickup is an electric small pickup for FMCG, reefer, and waste management applications. It provides a best-in-class payload capacity of 1,750 kg. It has a permanent magnet synchronous motor that generates 230 Nm of torque – Tata Motors has yet to disclose the power output. The driver can choose from three regenerative braking levels. A 28.2 kWh battery pack powers the electric motor and takes as little as 50 minutes for a 10-80% fast-charging session. It gives the EV a range of over 150 km.
Tata Motors provides many advanced features in the Intra EV Pickup, such as V2V and V2X bi-directional charging functions, driver face recognition, driver distraction video recording, 31 connected vehicle functions, and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It also includes an extensive safety suite, including Driver Drowsiness, Pedestrian Collision Warning, Forward Collision Warning, and Lane Departure Warning System, a rear-view camera, and a first-in-segment battery pack disconnect function in case of a crash.

The Ace Pro EV is an electric mini truck designed for last-mile operations in e-commerce, courier and parcel, FMCG, and waste management industries and provides a payload capacity of 750 kg. It has a permanent magnet synchronous motor producing 104 Nm of torque and a 14.4 kWh LFP battery pack that delivers a range of more than 155 km. The driver can choose from three regenerative braking levels.
Tata Motors has launched the Ace Pro EV in container, low deck, and flatbed load-body configurations as well as a cab chassis version. The company equips it with features like a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Lane Departure Warning, Forward Collision Warning, Pedestrian Collision Warning, Cross Traffic Alert, and a rear-view camera.
