Electric concept for the mountains: Genesis puts the GV60 on snow chains

Genesis presented a new concept vehicle for rescue operations in the mountains at the World Economic Forum in Davos. The electric study based on the standard GV60 is particularly striking due to its lack of wheels. It moves on snow chains alone.

According to the Hyundai brand, the Genesis GV60 MIV Concept was specially developed for mountainous and rough terrain. MIV stands for ‘Mountain Intervention Vehicle.’ The widened carbon wheel arches, which provide space for the snow chains, are an eye-catching feature of the study. What it looks like under the bonnet remains a mystery, as Genesis does not provide any technical data. The GV60, on which the study is based, could provide some clues. But only to a limited extent, as the electric car, launched in 2021, is currently getting a facelift. However, it is very likely that the GV60 will receive the 84.0 kWh battery with the facelift, which is now also offered in the sister models Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6.

Either way, the manufacturer does not specify whether Genesis intends to further develop its GV60 MIV Concept. “The GV60 MIV Concept expands this vision of comfort and care,” reads an accompanying press release. However, the word “vision” does not necessarily indicate that Genesis intends to commercialise the emergency vehicle. Especially since the South Koreans have made presenting new concepts in Davos something of a tradition. After the Genesis X Concept in 2023 and the Genesis X Snow Speedium Concept last year, the GV60 MIV Concept is the third concept model that Genesis has unveiled in the Swiss town.
