BP Pulse opens first charging hub at TravelCenters of America
The charging hub, located in Jacksonville, Florida, along the I-95, offers customers access to amenities such as restaurants, a convenience store, WiFi, and an ATM. More importantly for EV drivers, there are twelve charging bays, each providing up to 400 kW of power.
“Today marks a significant milestone in our journey to bring new forms of energy to our customers as we support their changing mobility needs, while leveraging the best of bp and TA, and ultimately showcasing bp’s transformation to an integrated energy company,” said Debi Boffa, CEO of TravelCenters of America. “While this is significant, to our loyal customers and guests, rest assured TA will continue to provide the same safe and reliable fueling options it has offered for over 50 years, regardless of the type of fuel.”
“As we expand our EV charging network in the US, I am thrilled to unveil our first of many hubs at TA locations,” said Sujay Sharma, CEO of BP Pulse Americas. “These sites are strategically located across key highway corridors that provide our customers with enroute charging when and where they need it most, while offering convenient amenities, like restaurants and restrooms.”
BP Pulse took over TravelCenters of America for around 1.3 billion dollars at the beginning of 2023. The company also announced that it wanted to pump one billion US dollars into the development of charging infrastructure in the USA by 2030, and has been busy installing chargers in the US.
For instance, BP Pulse broke ground for a charging hub at a TravelCenters of America in California in August 2024. In this case, the chargers will be reserved for electric trucks. It will feature four CCS chargers with 400 kW each, which will go live this year, and one MCS charger, which is said to come online in 2026.
