Enapi raises $7.5 million in seed financing
The Berlin-based startup Enapi, which aims to improve interoperability between charging point operators and eMobility service providers with its platform, has raised a further €7.5 million in a seed financing round. Enapi had already raised 2.5 million euros in its pre-seed round.
Enapi adds that its platform is growing quickly, with more than 350,000 charge points onboarded and partnerships established with 8 of Europe’s 10 largest eMobility Service Providers (eMSPs) in less than six months.
Enapi’s business model is aimed at CPOs and claims to tackle current issues such as low scalability, high prices, and poor data quality. For EV drivers, these issues can show as inaccurate information about charge point availability and unclear fees for public charging, which Enapi refers to in its current communication as well: “The lack of information has created a complicated and frustrating experience has been one of the big barriers to the electrification of mobility so far (according to McKinsey, 70% of EV drivers are dissatisfied with public EV charging infrastructure).”
The company’s partnerships include several significant players from the CPO business, such as Landis+Gyr, Octopus, e.on, Osprey and Last Mile Solutions. On its website, it describes its goals as follows: “As a provider of business-critical infrastructure to our partners, we prioritize security, reliability, and scalability. ’s mission is to commoditize connectivity in EV Charging, driving the green mobility revolution forward.”
“Our mission is to make EV charging transactions seamless, efficient, and accessible,” said Jakob Kleihues, CEO and co-founder of ENAPI, adding: “We want to make EV charging easier for everyone. Our platform makes payments and data transfer more efficient for every EV charging business so they can focus on advancing the EV revolution.”
“ENAPI’s infrastructure is revolutionising how the EV charging industry collaborates, addressing fragmentation head-on,” added Sierra Peterson, Founding Partner at Voyager Ventures. “Its technology is foundational to unlocking a seamless, scalable, and cost-effective charging network, and we are thrilled to partner with ENAPI as they expand globally.”
