Lubi Industries to install at BPCL outlets in India

Lubi Industries has been awarded a major contract by Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to manufacture, supply, install, and commission 1,400 fast DC chargers across India.

The fast chargers from Lubi Industries are 60kW chargers that will be installed at BPCL retail outlets. According to the Gudjerat company, the 1400 chargers will be a substantial share of the chargers installed throughout India.

According to the Indian government’s official Vahan portal, 99,004 electric cars were sold in 2024. Compared to 2023 (82,563 units), the country’s electric car sales grew by 16,441 units, or 20%. Indian consumers increasingly embrace electric cars as automakers gradually expand their selection for affordable, locally manufactured models. In 2024, the country set a new record for electric car sales.

Beyond electric cars, electric vehicles in India are largely represented by two-wheelers, but electric buses are also gradually populating the streets too. As electric cars become more popular, fast charging networks expand across the subcontinent.

According to Lubi Industries, the project to install 1400 fast chargers will create a network that supports India’s rapidly growing EV manufacturing ecosystem.

For its part, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) is continually expanding its electric vehicle charging network. In 2021, BPCL and other oil companies in India pledged to install 22,000 EV charging stations by 2026. Just under a year ago, BPCL awarded Servotech Power Systems a significant order of 1,800 EV chargers.
