Thomas Built Buses introduces second generation Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley

American electric school bus manufacturer Thomas Built Buses has announced the launch of the second-generation Saf-T-Liner C2 Jouley battery-electric school bus. Production of the 2nd generation Jouley with a 219-inch wheelbase already started.

According to Thomas Built Buses, the core of the second-generation Jouley is made up of the 14Xe eAxle from Accelera by Cummins and an 800-volt Proterra battery system. Production of the second-generation Jouley in the 219-inch wheelbase has already begun, which can seat up to 60 passengers. Additional wheelbase options will be coming in 2025.

No information regarding the range or charging capacity of the electric school bus was provided in the communication, however, the first generation could drive as far as 150 miles and could charge its 246 kWh takes about 2-3 hours at a DC charging station.
