BMW is continuing to expand its charging network in South Korea. By 2021, BMW Korea had built a network of 500 electric vehicle chargers in the Asian country. By 2023, BMW Korea expanded to cover 1,000 installed chargers, which also marked the official start of the ‘Charging Next’ project.

According to BMW, the initiative has been instrumental in scaling up the charging infrastructure to meet the increasing needs of electric vehicle drivers. In 2024, BMW Korea really stepped up its efforts and installed over 1,000 chargers, bringing the total charging network to 2,125 units.

Next, the German automobile manufacturer wants to improve the experience at its charging stations, mainly with the introduction of the ‘BMW Charging Hub Lounge’ and the ‘Plug & Charge’ service.

This is not the only location where BMW is investing in charging infrastructure, as the German company recently also recently started construction of a new charging network in China together with Mercedes, for which the two companies launched a joint venture in early 2024. In Mexico, BMW started a collaboration with Evergo to build charging infrastructure in 2023, while several deals have been launched with Electrify America in the USA. In the summer of 2021, BMW counted a total of 4,350 charging points in its global network.
