Geely brand Farizon launches electric van in Europe

The Geely commercial vehicle subsidiary Farizon is bringing the electric van Farizon SV to Europe. The vehicle, available in three vehicle lengths, three heights, and two battery sizes, will initially go on sale in the UK in the first half of 2025.

The Farizon SV is a large, electrically powered panel van. It has been specifically designed to meet the needs of European fleets and incorporates several advanced technologies and innovations that, according to the company, represent a world first in the commercial vehicle market. Farizon adds that the SV “has undergone a rigorous one-million-mile testing and development programme” to ensure that it meets all EU standards.

The electric van is based on a customised, modular platform that offers advantages in terms of cargo space, range, handling and safety. Highlights include cell-to-pack technology, said to increase battery capacity by 10 per cent, reduce weight by 4 per cent and improve body rigidity by 20 per cent.

The SV also introduces the first drive-by-wire platform with dual redundancy to the global van market, which the company says reduces braking distance by 10 per cent, increases range by 5 per cent and improves steering response by 300 per cent. Drive-by-wire technology also increases payload capacity, and the loading height is particularly low.

From the market launch, three vehicle lengths and three vehicle heights will be available in the UK, although the company has not specified these in more detail. The model will initially be sold with two battery sizes: 67 kWh and 83 kWh. A 106 kWh battery option will follow.

“Bringing competitive, innovative zero-emission commercial vehicles to the UK will offer a compelling option to businesses and fleets embracing the growing movement to transition to zero-emission commercial vehicles,” explains Andy Carroll, Country Manager, Jameel Motors. “The Farizon SV was developed for the van users and fleets of today and tomorrow, and several world-first advanced technologies means it offers more cargo space, greater range and a more convenient and comfortable driver experience.”

Farizon has not really been active in Europe until now. However, in September, it secured a major order at the IAA Transportation in Hanover. German logistics company Duvenbeck ordered 50 units of the electric Homtruck.

Farizon was founded in 2016. Its focus is on zero-emission commercial vehicles, and it offers vans, trucks and buses. The company is part of the Chinese Geely Group, which owns brands such as Volvo, Polestar, Lotus and Zeekr. Geely also holds a 50 per cent stake in Smart.
