Mitie fleet hits 6,000th EV
After Mitie reached the milestone of 5,000 electric vehicles in April this year, the new aim is to complete the conversion of the fleet by the end of 2025. While Mitie does not specify how big the fleet will be, currently almost three-quarters (73%) of its fleet is electric. This implies about 6850 vehicles are currently in Mitie’s fleet.
Mitie states that it is making rapid progress in fully electrifying its fleet, having achieved its 4,000th, 5,000th, and now 6,000th EV this year. The company started its electrification efforts in 2018 and presents “a fundamental part of the company’s ‘Plan Zero’ initiative.” The company aims to reach net zero carbon emissions in its operations by the end of 2025. By 2022, Mitie had electrified 35 per cent of its entire fleet, a milestone which the company hit ahead of its schedule.
“Reaching our 6,000th EV is a momentous achievement, and having added over 2,000 EVs to our fleet since the start of 2024, we are making rapid progress on our journey to reaching a zero-emission fleet,” said Peter Dickinson, Chief Legal Officer at Mitie.
Lilian Greenwood MP, Minister for the Future of Roads, added: “We’ve extended our £120 million grant to help roll out more zero emission vans on our roads, as part of our £2.3 billion to support industry and consumers switch to EVs and make the transition a success.”
