Evri to integrate DAF XB electric truck into its fleet
The company writes that being an early adopter of the electric truck underscores Evri’s dedication to expanding its fleet of electric cargo bikes and electric vehicles. During the trial period, Evri will operate the DAF XB electric truck under real-world conditions with regular customer deliveries.
The truck comes in a 16-pallet body size and an electric range of up to 300km. Integrated high-energy battery packs boast an energy capacity of 282kWh. While on the road for Evri, the batteries are to be charged at the Southampton depot. The truck supports AC charging up to 22kW and can charge with up to 150 kW at a DC fast charging station.
As mentioned above, mass production of the electric truck is planned to start by 2025. Before that happens, however, the ‘early adopter’ programme will see Leyland Trucks closely monitor the performance of the vehicles as it is being integrated into Evri’s fleet.
Pauline Potter, Evri Director of Transformation, said: “Adopting the new DAF XB Electric ahead of full production demonstrates our commitment to reducing our environmental impact while maintaining operational excellence.”
Evri is investing 19 million pounds (23 million euros) in sustainability to reduce emissions and become a net-zero company by 2025. The company recently announced its plan to triple the number of electric cargo bikes in its fleet and increase the number of electric vehicles by about 50 per cent.
