Stellantis brand DS teases new electric car DS N°8
A few days ago, DS had already given a first hint by publishing a teaser photo (see above) – albeit without revealing the name. Now, however, DS has let the cat out of the bag and revealed the name of the new vehicle: It will be called the DS N°8.
The name heralds a new strategy that marks the launch of a 100 per cent all-electric model and at the same time positions it in the world of luxury, according to the company. The introduction of the ‘N°’ top designation is intended to herald a new generation of models from DS Automobiles, it added. ‘N°’ is the typical spelling for the word ‘number’ in French. The ‘°’ was shaped like a diamond point by the DS designers, intended to symbolise elegance and competence.
DS Automobiles also recently revealed the first details of the DS N°8, albeit without naming it. The SUV coupé is said to offer a range of 750 kilometres according to WLTP – and more than 50 pre-series vehicles are already said to be on the road in France for everyday testing.
The front end features the typical DS Automobiles light signature with DS Pixelvision headlights. The daytime running lights are arranged vertically. The windscreen is set far back and the bonnet is pulled down low. The rear wings are strikingly moulded. The three-dimensional rear lights protruding from the body surface and the vertical light signature also optimise the aerodynamics. The new electric model from DS Automobiles achieves a low drag coefficient of 0.24.
