Smart UK has selected Ohme EV as its official home charging supplier. The two companies aim to provide the Smart's vehicles with Ohme’s home-charging solution while using renewable energy.

Ohme writes that Smart customers can now view the Ohme chargers at Smart retailers. Apart from offering retailer training and support, Ohme promises to provide “a full solution including the charger and installation.”

Ohme’s dynamic EV chargers employ live data from the grid and work well with any UK energy tariff, including the rates from Octopus and OVO. Customers who use the Ohme charger to charge their Smart #1 with a 62kWh battery on Intelligent Octopus Go could pay just £4.34, at least according to the Ohme Ev press release.

The charger is capable of automatically adjusting its charging processes to optimise the cost of charging and accessing all the times of the smartest, greenest and lowest cost energy tariffs. Moreover, it has a solar boost function, reducing its dependence on the grid.

David Watson, CEO of Ohme said: “The Smart #1 and new #3 are some of the most exciting new electric vehicles on the market. This collaboration with smart helps to underline Ohme’s position as the UK’s fastest-growing home EV charging company. We’re looking forward to introducing smart’s customers to the benefits of dynamic charging and supporting its retailer network.”

Smark UK isn’t the first company to partner with Ohme for home-charging solutions. In January, Hyundai Motor UK announced an agreement with Ohme to become its new official home-charging partner.
