BYD launches second delivery tanker

BYD has commissioned its second dedicated transport ship for the export of its electric cars and plug-in hybrids. The 199.9 metre long freighter named BYD Changzhou has capacity for 7,000 cars and is currently on its way to Europe with almost 5,000 BYD vehicles.

BYD’s new carrier transport ship is called the BYD Changzhou and is in operation delivering the Chinese EV manufacturer’s vehicles to markets abroad. This marks the second ro-ro vessel (roll-on-roll-off) that BYD has in operation, as Wang Junbao, general manager of BYD Corporate Division, announced on Weibo.

The carrier ship is now headed to Europe bearing about 5,000 BYD electric vehicles, after visiting the ports at Lianyungang and Taicang in Jiangsu province. This now marks the third vessel in operation on the route under BYD’s heading. In the next two years, the company plans to field a total of seven roro-vessels, as BYD stated in January.
