Regionalverkehr Köln ordered FCEV buses from the Northern Irish manufacturer in May 2022. All 31 vehicles – the first on European soil, according to Wrightbus – have now arrived at the German transport company. They are currently still being tested before being deployed in the region around Cologne.

This year, Wrightbus also opened its European service centre in Brühl, in the heart of the RVK region. The vehicles from the other orders that Wrightbus has received in the meantime – for example from Saarbahn, Vestische, Cottbusverkehr and West Verkehr – are to be serviced from there. According to the company, the site will also help to bring its H2 buses to France and the Benelux countries.

The CEO of Wrightbus, Jean-Marc Gales, describes the delivery of the 31 RVK buses as “by far and away the most technical operation we have faced.” “As well as the buses we are also delighted to open our European service centre in Bruhl, enabling our team of experts to service and maintain buses of all types right in the heart of Europe, and we’re hiring across the continent to get more buses into operation,” says the former automotive manager. We are also recruiting staff across the continent in order to be able to put even more buses into service.
