Genesis reveals 2026 Electrified GV70 SUV
Following the Los Angeles event announcement, the vehicles are expected to reach North American retailers in the first half of 2025 – both the petrol-powered GV70, as well as the Electrified GV70.
The revised version of Electrified GV70 SUVs supports the North American Charging Standard (NACS) charge port and a Combined Charging System (CCS) adapter. Moreover, the charging port door now has an electric motor which can be opened and closed more easily. Genesis revealed that the vehicle is powered by a larger 84kWh high-capacity battery that will offer more range, providing customers with greater flexibility. The manufacturer didn’t give any details about the vehicle’s driving range.
The 2026 GV70 and Electrified GV70 SUV models feature the Terrain Mode for the first time. This mode allows drivers to drive in the optimised mode—snow, mud, or sand—depending on road conditions.
With the new models of 2026 GV70 and Electrified GV70 SUVs, chief operating officer of Genesis Motor North America, Claudia Márquez, expressed: “GV70 is our most popular model in North America, and we’ve welcomed over 85,000 customers into the GV70 family in just three short years. The newly redesigned GV70 and Electrified GV70 offer a great SUV’s utility and interior refinement without sacrificing the fun-to-drive character that Genesis vehicles are known for.”
The brand reports that the redesigned models exude Genesis’ “Athletic Elegance”. While GV70 offers ten different exterior colours, the Electrified GV70 allows customers to choose between six exterior and two interior colour options.
Genesis says that the GV70 and Electrified GV70 come with a Digital Key, which lets an owner seamlessly access, control, manage, and customise their vehicle.
Since kicking off the production of the first Genesis Electrified GV70 at the Hyundai plant in Alabama, Genesis has been growing as a brand. It just opened new facilities in Washington State, Minnesota, Florida, and New York. The North American brand now has 60 retailers, including 30 distributors in Canada.
