ABL offers DC charging station that complies with calibration law

German wallbox manufacturer ABL has added the first DC charging station to its product portfolio. The product comes from Spanish parent company Wallbox Chargers, but was specially developed for the markets in the DACH region.

The Supernova 220 from Wallbox Chargers (or ABL) is said to combine “efficient technology with smart functions” and “fulfil all requirements in the DC segment.” This primarily refers to the legally prescribed Eichrecht certification (calibration law conformity) for use in the public sector in Germany and Austria.

It is clearly a Spanish development, even though ABL contributed expertise concerning Eichrecht certification. Wallbox Chargers has been offering the Supernova since 2020, and the ‘old’ logo can still be found on the ABL version. Wallbox Chargers intends to use the established ABL brand name for the German-speaking markets.

The charging station has two charging points and is available in three power levels of 75, 150 or 220 kW. Six independent power modules are said to ensure easy maintenance and maximum uptime. In addition, the modular design allows the charging capacity to be increased at a later date, ABL explains. The power modules are installed in the column, making it an all-in-one product – an external control cabinet is not required.

The Supernova 220 offers a touchscreen user interface, and ‘various’ contactless payment options are available for billing charging processes – depending on the version selected by the charging point operator, according to ABL.

“With Germany’s expansion of EV infrastructure, dependable fast-charging solutions such as Supernova will be crucial to support the rising demand for quick and efficient charging options,” said Enric Asunción, CEO of Wallbox. “Supernova’s Eichrecht certification in Germany underscores the advanced technology and precision engineering behind our DC fast charger and will open doors for Wallbox in Germany and the broader DACH region.”
