Traton announces truck chraging cooperation with Hubject

The truck fleet customers of Traton subsidiaries MAN and Scania will in future have access to Hubject's roaming charging network. This is made possible by a collaboration between Hubject and Traton Charging Solutions, Traton's in-house charging service for electric trucks.

The cooperation between Traton Charging Solutions and the Berlin-based provider of roaming technology is intended to expand the scope of the charging service subsidiary and “open doors for potential global partnerships”, according to an accompanying press release. Specifically, customers will gain access to a charging network supported by Hubject’s roaming platform, whereby they can continue to use the existing ‘Scania Charging Access’ and ‘MAN Charge&Go’ services.

According to the partners, the platform simplifies charging processes through integrated access, a single invoice and standardised pricing. Hubject CEO Christian Hahn therefore describes the cooperation as an important step in driving forward the introduction of electric commercial vehicles. “Our aim as a shared service entity is to give all our brands the supporting framework to succeed. Scania and MAN have done a brilliant commercial packaging of their services, while Traton Charging Solutions provides the backbone.”

Traton Charging Solutions and Hubject have known each other for some time, as both players have been involved as thought leaders in the definition of Point of Interest (POI) data model requirements for commercial vehicle charging in the EU since 2023. This initiative aims to ensure that the charging system evolves to meet the operational requirements of truck and bus operators.

Traton Charging Solutions was founded a year ago. According to its own information, the charging service subsidiary currently has a network of around 150 charging stations suitable for commercial vehicles with more than 400 charging points in Europe. “It’s incredible to think of what we’ve achieved in twelve months. Previously, the experience for fleet customers in terms of accessing charge point locations and managing payments was below par. To build confidence in electric, we needed to bring simplicity and convenience to customers,” says Dr Petra Sundström, Managing Director of Traton Charging Solutions.
