This is not the first electric bus order from Gliwice’s public transport operator PKM Gliwice for Solaris, which first placed an order with the Polish bus manufacturer in 2005 and ordered 170 electric buses so far. In 2022, an order was placed for a fleet of 32 Solaris buses, for example.

In terms of technical specifications, the Urbino electric buses run on batteries with capacities of 400 kWh for the shorter version and 700 kWh for the articulated model. The public transport operator will charge the buses with inverted pantograph fast chargers, which are to be installed at “transport hubs in the city.”

According to Solaris’ press release, the buses also feature a modern passenger information system, electronic ticket validators, and payment collection devices, as well as a passenger counting system. Additionally, “To enhance safety for all road users, the buses will include blind-spot and front-area monitoring devices. Additionally, each bus will feature digital monitoring and an alcolock.”
