Jiyue introduces Robo X supercar
Jiyue, a Chinese EV maker, unveiled its new supercar model ‘Robo X’ at the 2024 Guangzhou auto show. Customers can pre-order the two-seater supercar at a price of RMB 49,999 ( approx. 6,500 euros) before the company ships the vehicle by 2027. Jiyue has not published many details about the car. But it says that, to live up to its name, the Robo X is said to combine artificial intelligence and autonomous driving in a super sports car.
What we know is that the car can accelerate from zero to 100 kph in under two seconds and that Jiyue is aiming for a range of up to 650 kilometres on one charge. The latter is probably according to the Chinese testing cycle. It is unlikely that the EV will achieve these types of distances on the track.
The car is 4.65 metres long, 2 metres wide, and 1.19 metres high. It is said to weigh 1,850 kilogrammes, thanks to the unibody carbon fibre frame and 5052 high-strength aluminium alloy.
The Robo X supercar supports an AI voice model that facilitates real-time communication with Simo, a virtual voice assistant. This functionality gives drivers access to essential information about the car, such as motor torque, chassis dynamics and thermal management.
The latest supercar has become a reality thanks to the partnership between Jiyue’s parent company, Baidu, and multinational automotive maker, Geely. So far, the partnership has yielded several EV initiatives, including the flagship brand JIDU, which attracted $300 million in startup capital and $400 million (approx. 379 million euros) i Series A funding in 2022. The JIDU brand “metamorphosed” into Jiyue to launch the ’01 ROBOCAR’ model. In September, the companies unveiled JiYue 07, inspired by JIDU’s ROBO-02 concept.
