Solaris has signed a framework agreement for 45 units of its Urbino 24 electric bus. The first firm order for 18 units comes specifically from the regional transport company of Wallonia (Opérateur de transport de Wallonie – TEC), which manages transport in the city of Liège. The first five buses from this order are to be delivered in 2025, with the remaining 13 units to follow in 2026. Solaris has not yet provided any information on when the other orders will be triggered.

However, it is clear that this is the Polish manufacturer’s largest order for units of its electric 24-metre bus. The model was launched in 2019 and is currently in operation in Aalborg, Denmark, among other places. It is characterised not only by its length, but also by its MetroStyle design option. Liège has also opted for this look.

According to Solaris, the double-articulated buses are predestined for routes with a high passenger capacity and for so-called Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) systems with a high frequency. “We are especially delighted to deliver Urbino 24 electric buses in the unique MetroStyle design to Liège. These exceptional zero-emission buses will support sustainable and convenient public transport in the city,” said Olivier Michard, Chief Commercial Officer at Solaris.

Technically, the Urbino 24 electric is powered by two electric axles. The system output is 240 kW. Energy is supplied by batteries with a total capacity of around 800 kWh, which can be recharged by cable. The buses are equipped with several driver assistants, including a 270° camera system, as well as LED lighting technology. The vehicles can carry 50 passengers seated.
