Irizar to set up new headquarters in the UK
Irizar UK had put the project on hold in recent years due to Brexit and the pandemic. However, after two strong sales years in 2023 and 2024, the bus manufacturer is now resuming the project. The new UK headquarters is intended to support Irizar’s growth in the country. Another reason for the choice of location is due to the fact that UK has developed the largest electric bus market in Europe.
The headquarters will span 16,000 square metres and, in addition to offices, will include a showroom, facilities for bus handovers and a large car park for buses. Irizar acquired the site back in 2018, but put the project on hold due to the subsequent economic uncertainties.
Andrew Blundell, Managing Director of Irizar UK, describes the resumption of plans as an important milestone for Irizar in the UK. “We have reached a key transitional phase in the evolution of the business, and investing in our own premises will give us the capacity to further enhance our market position in the UK.”
Irizar currently has three vehicles on display at Euro Bus Expo, including an electric bus: the Irizar ie tram.
