Endesa to supply EV chargers to GLS Spain
It is not clear how many chargers Endesa will set up. The press release mentions “up to 19 locations nationwide” and that “in some cases,” these locations will have more than 100 EV charging points. It seems there will be a mix of AC and DC chargers with up to 300 kW. Again, the companies do not go into detail on this issue.
The upcoming EV infrastructure will charge GLS’ delivery fleet, for which the above-mentioned 300kw chargers are primarily designated. However, the chargers will also be open to employees, “supporting their transition to electric mobility if they so choose.” The latter will also get access to Endesa’s charging network in the country “under favourable conditions, allowing drivers to charge beyond GLS’ facilities,” the press release states.
“This agreement with Endesa reflects our commitment to leading the change toward a more sustainable business model. “We are convinced that every step counts, and this represents significant progress in reducing our carbon footprint and enhancing efficiency at all levels of our operations,” says Daniel López, Environmental director of GLS Spain.
The deal with Endesa also covers the installation of solar panels at the GLS locations in Spain in the coming years. Initially, the company will install 155 solar panels with a solar capture area of over 300 m² and a capacity of 78 kWp.
“The climate change clock is ticking, and many companies have set their roadmap to reduce their environmental impact,” says Davide Ciciliato, Endesa’s General Director of Commercialisation. “At Endesa, we’re helping them design personalized decarbonization energy strategies with a 360° approach.”
