The van is the first vehicle born from Nissan’s alliance with Renault. It is based on the same platform as the fourth generation of the Renault Master E-Tech, which the French company unveiled a year ago.

Both large vans are equipped with a 40 or 87 kWh battery. The latter can be charged with up to 130 kW, adding “up to 252km of range in just 30 minutes.” An 11kW AC charger is standard for both battery sizes, while customers can opt for a 22kW AC charger for the 87kWh battery.

Nissan does not state a range for the electric version of its Interstar. From previous publications, we know that the Light Commercial Vehicle (LCV) has a range of 200 kilometres (with the 40kWh battery) or 460 kilometres (with the 87kWh battery). There is still no word on the electric motor. The Renault Master E-Tech is known to come with a 96 or 105kW unit in future. The figures for the Nissan are likely to be identical.

The electric version of the delivery van will initially launch in the L2H2 dimension (3,855 x 1,312 mm load area) with a load volume of 10.8 cubic metres. The permissible total weight of the Nissan electric van is 3.5 tonnes – however, variants of up to four tonnes are possible, with a total payload of up to up to 1.6 tonnes. The chassis version manages up to 1.9 tonnes. Nissan specifies that the maximum towing capacity is 2.5 tonnes.

Moreover, the Interstar is available with multiple different factory-built conversions, “including Tipper, Dropside and Box Van.” The carmaker also again highlights that the Insterstar has improved aerodynamics compared to its (combustion engine) predecessor, namely a “20% drag (SCx) reduction improvement.”

Nissan Europe has not named any prices for the new electric van – but Nissan Germany has. According to the latter, the Interstar-e starts at 53,380 euros (excl. VAT) in Germany.
