MojaEV supplies electric cars to taxi drivers
According to media reports, 20 of the above-mentioned 100 EVs have been handed over, while the remaining Neta V will be delivered before the end of the year. This effort by MojaEV counts towards the significant stride Kenya is making to electrify its transport system.
The electric SUV has a 40.7-kWh battery, a 70 kW electric drive and offers up to 150 Nm of torque. According to the manufacturer, the battery can be charged from 30 to 80 per cent in half an hour at the DC charger. Charging at a wall box charging station at home takes around eight hours.
Clean Technica reports that 201 electric cars have been registered in Kenya between 2018 and 2023. Moreover, the adoption rate of electric motorbikes is also on the rise.
As about 60% of the Nairobi population employs public transport daily, the company plans to launch 500 electric vehicles by the middle of next year. This initiative promises to meet the growing demand for efficient and environmentally friendly taxi services.
On top of the electric SUV from Chinese EV brand Neta, MojaEV also sells SUVs from Chinese manufacturer Skyworth. It reportedly delivered three luxury Skyworth SUVs to local clients in Nairobi.
