The new vehicles are Iveco eDaily, specifically 49 3.8-tonne trucks with a capacity of 14 cubic metres (P45E), as well as 106 7.2-tonne trucks with a load volume of 23 cubic metres (P80E) and 37 7.2-tonne trucks with a load volume of 28 cubic metres (P100E). Four of the 3.8-tonne trucks will be used in Switzerland.

The smaller vehicles all have 74 kWh batteries, while the bigger ones have batteries with an energy content of 111 kWh. The electric drive offers an output of up to 90 kW, while the range is up to 230 kilometres.

The vehicles have not all gone into operation. UPS states that the EVs will go into service “little by little” before the end of the year. In Germany, they will be used in Bielefeld, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt Fechenheim, Hamburg, Herne, Karlsruhe, Kirchheim near Munich, Cologne, Langenhagen (near Hanover), Nuernberg, and Wendlingen. In Switzerland, the EVs will join the delivery fleet in Bülach near Zurich.

In Germany, 120 of the new electric vehicles and the corresponding infrastructure were funded by the German government with 6.4 million euros.

The new Iveco eDaily are part of UPS’ plan to add 600 electric delivery vehicles to its fleets in Europe by the end of 2024. Just recently, it added 100 Iveco eDaily to its delivery fleet in Paris.
