Lion E-Mobility completes battery cooling tests
The successful tests are a significant step forward for Lion E-Mobility in the development of the battery, which works with direct cell cooling (‘immersion cooling’). The 400-volt battery developed by Lion Smart significantly exceeded the required test parameters and proved its performance under extreme conditions, according to the company.
The responsible project manager of the premium car manufacturer involved stated that the technology of the ‘Lion Light’ battery is the only one available on the market that fulfils the company’s requirements.
‘The successful completion of the high-temperature tests confirms the technical superiority of our battery with immersion cooling. We are very proud of this milestone and are now looking forward to preparing for series production. We also expect interest from other OEMs in our battery technology following these outstanding test results,’ says Dr Joachim Damasky, CEO of Lion E-Mobility.
In July 2024, a German premium vehicle manufacturer carried out track tests with the prototype of the ‘Lion Light’ battery. The high-performance battery from Lion achieved excellent results, according to reports. Vehicles with battery voltages of 400 and 800 volts showed a performance ‘that was 30 per cent above the current market standard’.
The next step for Lion E-Mobility is to prepare for the series production of the ‘Lion Light’ battery. At the same time, according to the Swiss company, talks are already underway with potential partners at the production and investor levels in order to provide the best possible support for the market launch of the battery.
