First Deutschlandnetz site opened at unmanaged motorway service area
In the press release, Autobahn GmbH des Bundes speaks of an ‘important milestone’ that electromobility has reached in Germany. The system is operated by Autostrom plus GmbH, which secured two of the six lots for the motorway sites in the German network in February. Each lot comprises 32 to 34 locations, the areas of the lots overlap – so that there is no local monopoly.
Autostrom plus has installed two charging points on the A21 motorway, which together offer four charging points. This is the smallest possible site size of the motorway lots. The locations with 4, 6 or 8 charging points were put out to tender. The charging capacity for the German network is up to 400 kW, but at least 200 kW per charging point.
The four parking spaces at the charging points are also covered, as can be seen in a press photo of the site. However, it is also clear that the charging points are installed in front of the head of the parking spaces – so you have to manoeuvre forwards or backwards to the charging point. The petrol station-like drive-through principle, which also has advantages for trailers, has not been implemented here.
