Lucid’s electric SUV Gravity starts at 79,900 dollars
The Gravity is based on Lucid’s debut model, the Air, and is an SUV with up to seven seats. At its launch in November 2023, Lucid announced that the Gravity would offer up to 588 kW of power thanks to further development of the 900-volt electric drive with its two motors. According to the manufacturer, the model can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph in 3.5 seconds.
The market launch of the Gravity is now imminent: Lucid will start accepting orders for the vehicle in the USA from next Thursday, 7 November 2024. Accordingly, Lucid has now also published the first prices: initially, only one equipment variant called Grand Touring will be available to order, with production set to begin this year and prices starting at 94,900 dollars. Lucid is also planning to start production of a significantly cheaper variant called Touring at the end of 2025, which will start at 79,900 dollars. Launch information for markets outside of the U.S. are to follow later.

Lucid states a maximum range of 440 miles for the Gravity, which is the equivalent of 708 kilometres. However, the company has not yet revealed the size of the battery. However, when the vehicle was presented last year, it was said that the vehicle could be recharged to a range of 200 miles (322 kilometres) in around 15 minutes at a fast charger.
The Gravity is said to measure 5.03 x 1.66 x 2 metres. The wheelbase is 3.04 metres. The interior of the Gravity has space for three rows of seats. The second and third rows can be folded flat, meaning that the Gravity offers over 3 cubic metres of cargo space. Lucid cites the payload as being over 680 kilograms and the towing capacity as 2,720 kilograms.
Lucid is a relatively small electric car manufacturer and delivered 2,781 vehicles in the third quarter. This was 387 vehicles more than in the second quarter. A new strategy should ensure significantly higher sales volumes: like Tesla in the past, Lucid Motors also wants to expand its portfolio downwards after the expensive luxury models. Lucid wants to develop three affordable mid-range models at the same time.
