BCA has announced a new EV Battery Health Grading service, enabling users to keep track of their electric vehicle’s traction battery condition. As buyers demand battery health grading service for their used EVs, BCA is on the verge of making over 40,000 units of EV sales over the next 12 months.

BCA COO Stuart Pearson commented “EV volumes in our online auctions are growing significantly year on year and we continue to refine the remarketing process in support of this sector. Thanks to our continued investment in infrastructure and support services, our customers remain best placed when it comes to selling or buying used electric vehicles.”

The new service comes with an AVILOO test box which is operated by connecting it to an electric vehicle’s On-Board Diagnostics interface to commence a ‘FLASH Test’. During the ‘FLASH Test’, users can get to know the remaining traction battery capacity of their EV product which is displayed within the range 0 to 100. What’s more, the display shows “red flags” once faulty battery modules are detected. After the test, the vehicle is given a grading of A-E accompanied by the numbered score from the AVILOO battery ‘FLASH Test’. Pearson remarked: “The service offers absolute transparency with unbiased testing and grading, providing a reusable report that will further help the retail process. For our sellers, the report will provide the opportunity to resolve any issues in advance of the sale event, along with optimising residual values by removing any uncertainty discounting.”

The company adds that the BCA Battery Health Grading can be viewed in a quick reference format on the vehicle detail page, on vehicle search results and on the Live Bidding screens. It also said that BCA customers could lay their hands on the full FLASH Test report post-sale, which is useful in the onward retail process. The company claims that the report helps sellers build greater trust and transparency with their customers and accelerate the sales process.

According to reports, the ‘FLASH Test’ provides the “fastest, most precise, unbiased and detailed analysis tool for battery health determination and battery defect detection for used EVs,” Pearson said. “This new initiative will provide valuable additional support to our customers as the used EV market continues to grow and help everyone with the onward sales process when these vehicles are retailed.”

Marcus Berger, CEO of the test provider AVILOO GmbH, commented “The AVILOO battery health test covers 95% of all available EV brands meaning it is a great fit with BCA’s extensive online remarketing programmes across the UK and Europe. Driving increased confidence, along with a transparent process remains key to the ongoing development of the used EV landscape, and we’re very happy to be partnering with BCA on this initiative.”
