Following the launch of an improved battery-swapping station in China last June, Nio has now built a battery-swapping network spanning nine horizontal highways, seven vertical highways and 12 urban clusters. Nio reached this milestone after recently adding seven new battery swap stations, four of which are located along major highways. This achievement signifies that Nio has successfully completed a battery-swapping network’s coverage of the G80 Guangzhou-Kunming highway, as well as the Zhejiang and Hunan sections of the Hangzhou-Ruili highway.

Nio reports that it now has 871 battery swap stations located along highways in China, with 293 battery swap stations built this year alone. Across the country, Nio boasts 2,609 battery-swapping stations.

The company says that the plan to construct 1,000 battery swap stations may be delayed by 1 to 2 months. But, as it stands, Nio still has plans to expand its battery swap network as the company earlier announced that it will launch a battery swap station network along 2,300 counties in 27 provincial administrative regions by December 31, 2025. Doubling down on its efforts to achieve the 2025 plan, Nio says that it has added more Onvo battery swap stations totalling 71, including the addition of 18 new fourth-generation stations and the completion of renovations to 53 third-generation stations.
