According to Mopar, the Plymouth GTX Electromod Concept is intended to demonstrate the range of applications for BEV conversion kits. The basic framework for the study is a 1967 Plymouth GTX, which instead of a petrol engine houses an electric drive with 250 kW output and four battery packs with a total capacity of 73 kWh.

According to the tuning experts at Stellantis, the power output is around 335 hp and the range is around 250 miles. This converts to around 246 kW of power and a range of around 400 kilometres. According to Mopar, the torque is transmitted to the rear wheels via a 3:1 gearbox. In terms of energy storage, three of the batteries are housed in the boot and the fourth behind the radiator grille in order to better distribute the weight.

Mopar is Chrysler’s historic tuning and parts division, which is now responsible for all Stellantis brands. In the 1960s, during the muscle car era, Mopar made a name for itself primarily with performance parts that improved the speed and handling of both road and racing cars. The tuning department also had the Plymouth GTX under its wing at the time.
