Electra to build HPC stations at Belgian Burger King locations
First to Belgium: The collaboration with the fast-food chain started on 23 October with the opening of the first fast-charging station at Burger King in Zandhoven. Electra refers to a ‘fast charging station’ as a location, not as an individual charging column. Each station is planned to feature at least four, but on average six fast-charging points.
As Electra relies on the HYC400 hypercharger from Alpitronic, with two CCS charging points per column this means at least two, and usually three hyperchargers at a branch. The first location in the province of Antwerp is also equipped with three Hyperchargers and therefore six charging points. The charging points will also be publicly accessible outside of the shop’s opening hours.
It was only in the summer that the French charging infrastructure company obtained loans totalling 75 million euros from four banks in order to accelerate its rollout in Belgium. This is intended to cover 60 per cent of the investment for fast chargers in Belgium – including, but not limited to, Burger King – with the company covering the rest itself.
The French company also plans to start building 400 kW fast chargers in Switzerland. This is because Electra has agreed a strategic partnership with Accor Invest for the local market. The hotel operator has signed an agreement with Electra to equip the car parks of its hotels with a high-performance charging infrastructure. Several charging points with a capacity of up to 400 kW are already planned at various hotel locations. The first chargers are due to open at the beginning of next year.
This partnership comes as no surprise: Accor Invest and Electra have been working together in France since 2023. In May 2024, Electra and Accor Invest had already signed an agreement for the German Accor locations. In Germany, four to six charging points with a capacity of 200 to 400 kW are to be installed in the outdoor car parks of each of the Group’s hotels. The Accor Invest brands include Ibis, Mercure and Novotel.
